Date Night Ideas in San Francisco

February 2, 2018

We have to admit, we're a big fan of "Netflix and chill" nights. Sometimes nothing can beat a binge-worthy TV show and a hot cheese pizza. But there's still something special about going out on a good old-fashion date night. You know, the kind of nights were you both dress up, put the cell phones away and enjoy a romantic experience together.

Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, we thought we'd share our favorite date night hot-spots with some ideas on where to go and what to do for a memorable night in San Francisco.

(Psssstttt!! Scroll down to see how you can WIN a Valentine's Date Night.)

Go out for Dinner and Drinks

One of the best things about living in San Francisco is the food. No matter what you're in the mood for, there are so many amazing places to choose from! But if you're looking for a first-rate culinary experience with a romantic ambiance and delicious drinks, one of our favorite places to go is Alexander's Steakhouse.

Not only do they have the best Japanese selection of beef in town, their attention to detail and the overall experience will leave your date speechless. Seriously, you will be treated like royalty!

Alexander's Steakhouse is not your typical steakhouse where they serve the standard steak and baked potatoes. They offer over eight different types of Angus steak (American breeds of beef) and more than twelve different types of Wagyu (Japanese breeds of beef) that are paired with flavorful Japanese cuisine.

We like to start off with their addicting and oh-so-tasty hamachi shots and their Sonoma duck that's flavored with lavender, fig preserves and wild mushrooms. (Are we making your mouth water yet??)

One of our favorite parts of the experience is when they bring out their special selections of meats and talk about the different flavors and marbling that you can choose from along with their twelve unique salts.

We strongly suggest their Omaha Prime Filet with Perigord truffles or their Hokkaido Japan that gets better with every chew. And to top it all off, their desserts are simply divine with sweet flavors and creative presentations. (You're going to love their Rise and Shine Black Forest Souffle!)

Attend a Local Concert

Going to a concert is a great way for you and your special someone to be still, be present and be in the moment together. One of our favorite theaters in town is the SFJAZZ Center in Hayes Valley. Jazz is such an intimate art form and is unique from the other arts because musicians can have the ability to make music in real time.

There are so many fun programs coming up at SFJAZZ this year - check out their season HERE! Did we mention the seats have cup holders for your cocktails and/or wine?

This month SFJAZZ and Opera Parallele are partnering up for a special world premiere on Valentine's Day night! They will be combining local Composer Jake Heggie's At the Statue of Venus with a classic by Leonard Bernstein, Trouble in Tahiti.

Want to win TWO tickets to the February 14th concert and a $100 gift card to Alexander Steakhouse?

Why is this concert worth seeing? We were hoping you'd ask. In celebration of Leonard Bernstein's centennial, SFJAZZ and Opera Parallele have created an experiential concert that combines both old and new music with a multi-media flare.

As you enter the hall you might spot a wondering live-statue that has been covered from head-to-toe with body paint. Soon enough, that statue will be captured by members of the cast that will bring her to up to the set in that's transformed into a museum. There will be a cast, a full orchestra, projections, a moving stage AND dancers. It's an all in one kind of night that you can share with one another and create lasting memories!

Suprise him/her with a Gift

If you're celebrating a special occasion or you're wanting to profess your love to your sweetheart on Valentine's Day, surprise them with a gift! It's always a challenge to decide what that gift should be - but my friend, you can NEVER go wrong with jewelry or chocolate!

This year my husband surprised me with a pair of earrings from Shreve & Co.! He planned it perfectly because he gave them to me before we went out so that I could wear them on our date night in the city. I love them so much because they are multi-colored and they pair well with so many outfits!

If you're thinking about gifting jewelry this year, I highly recommend Shreve & Co. because they have great prices and their customer service is amazing. They are great for helping you find the perfect piece for your significant other.

Parker is a huge fan of their watch selection. No matter the occasion, a watch is the one accessory that he can't leave home without. Shreve & Co. carries a variety of watch brands like IWC, Rolex, and Panerai. You can check their collection out HERE!

We hope this post gave you some fun ideas for your next date night out. The most important thing is that you take time for one another and celebrate the small moments no matter what the occasion may be. What are your favorite places to go on a date? Leave us a comment below!
