About the Artists: Formerly The Online Theatre Festival, Network Theatre Co. was founded in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. When the world, and subsequently live theatre, shut down, a group of current and former students from Southern Utah University came together to find a way to safely create art across great distances. Rehearsed and performed entirely over Zoom, Network Theatre Co. has produced two seasons of completely original work, with cast and crew collaborating safely from their homes all over the country. Their premiere musical 'The Box', was featured in the Rochester Fringe Festival. LatinXoxo is Migguel Anggelo’s nonconforming and self-accepting rallying cry: a break from “Latin Lover” clichés and his own Venezuelan father’s gendered expectations. With indelible precision, weaving in and out of the audience, the artist connects past and present while unraveling the stereotypes that would otherwise constrain him. LatinXoxo was designed to immerse an audience in a highly personal story. It is an artful collage of theater, queer comedy, physical movement, and sumptuous song selections. The musical repertoire spans decades of pop hits, his own original compositions, and the Spanish boleros that defined his youth. With equal doses of sensitivity and sensationalism, “turning on a dime from anger to devastating tenderness” (Broadway World), Migguel Anggelo reminds us that our greatest love is right there in the mirror. With musical direction by Jaime Lozano and by C. Julian Jiménez, LatinXoxo is conceived by Migguel Anggelo and directed by Adrian Alexander Alea.
