You are invited to a once in a lifetime Greenwood/Black Wall Street Stage Play event featuring Byron Cage, Award winning Gospel Artist and R&B sensation CHERELLE! The Deep Greenwood/Black Wallstreet play, is a fact- based story about people coming together to form a successful business district during Jim Crow Era. The time period is early 1900’s in Tulsa, Oklahoma where two individuals, J.B Stratford and O.W Gurley, come together with a plan to purchase several blocks of land and sell them only to other black entrepreneurs. With their plan in motion, Black Wallstreet is born. Creating well over 100 businesses from grocery stores, banks, theatres, restaurants, hotels, lawyer and doctor offices just to name a few. We also shed light on the dark events leading up to one of the deadliest, untold and unforgettable 12 hours in American History. The 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre beginning on May 31, 1921 and ending June 1, 1921.This play encompasses Hope, Unity and Resilience for a generation who understood how important it was to stand strong.

We close our season with Signature Series, an always unforgettable evening made up of three works by three superstar choreographers, sure to please everyone. Emmy winning and Olivier-nominated choreographer Jennifer Weber, also known for her choreography of Disney’s Zombie 2, returns with our first ever hip-hop ballet, While You Were Gone. Originally created on Tulsa Ballet for The Celebration in May of 2021, While You Were Gone broke the boundaries of what a typical ballet encompasses, creating a brand-new type of dance. This program will also feature a World Premieres by choreographer Katarzyna Kozielska PLUS the return of Alexander Ekman’s hilariously entertaining Cacti, a piece that features 16 dancers creating rhythms together that will have you laughing out loud. Tulsa Ballet’s 2021 World Premiere production of The Nutcracker was welcomed by Tulsa families with record-breaking ticket sales because of its exciting new choreography, colorful costumes and larger-than-life moving sets! Exciting choreography by Val Caniparoli and Ma Cong plus breathtaking sets and costumes by designer Tracy Grant Lord leave audiences spellbound. From the epic battle between the Nutcracker Prince’s army of toy soldiers and the Mouse King’s rodent minions, to the enchanting land of the Snow Queen followed by the Sugar Plum Fairy’s Kingdom of Sweets, a cast of close to 100 local children joins the dancers of Tulsa Ballet to create a lifetime of memories for young and old.
