Based on the smash hit 1991 Disney movie and dating back to a late 18th-century classic French fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast tells the story of Belle, a beautiful and intelligent young woman who feels out of place in her provincial French village. When her father is imprisoned in a mysterious castle, Belle’s attempt to rescue him leads to her capture by the Beast, a grisly and fearsome monster, who was long ago trapped in his gruesome form by an enchantress. The only way for the Beast to become human once again is if he learns to love and be loved in return. There is a time limit, too: once a magical rose loses all of its petals, all hope will be lost and he will stay a Beast forever. The Beast’s enchanted household--populated by such beloved characters as Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, Cogsworth, and Chip--watch anxiously as Belle and the Beast grow to understand and befriend one another. Their feelings grow ever deeper as the clock ticks and petals continue to fall off the enchanted rose--will they confess their love for one another before it is too late?
Rebellion is coming in Matilda JR., a gleefully witty ode to the anarchy of childhood and the power of imagination! This story of a girl who dreams of a better life and the children she inspires will have audiences rooting for the “revolting children” who are out to teach the grown-ups a lesson.
Ananya’s newest production works through four major emotional arcs, traveling through earth, water, fire, and air to interweave fragments of memory, responses to current experiences, and imaginations of a joyful future. Dastak is a meditation on borders, loss, belonging, home, and liberation. Structured through four elemental journeys, Earth, Water, Fire, and Air, the work traces the knockings (dastak, in Farsi) of global injustices on our hearts, and echoes the subtitle created by writer Sharon Bridgforth – I Wish You Me – indicating the cross-generational love that has carried communities through difficult migrations. Dastak invites viewers to imagine what freedom is possible as it expands the realms of intention and trans-dimensional connection through spells that invoke rest, forgiveness, love, and freedom.

Dylan moves his family to Nashville with dreams of people singing his songs by heart but life takes a tragic turn one December destroying his love of Christmas. Needing just one hit to save him he decides to write a musical script in a last-ditch effort to live his dream and matter to someone. He soon finds that his little girl Sadie has an intuitive connection to Heaven and a familiar passion for music just like him. With wisdom beyond her years, and help from a special angel, Dylan re-discovers a love for Christmas and a peace about the past. With God’s grace, support from an amazing wife and family, and a gritty never give-up attitude, he realizes that his most important dreams are right in his own living room. Drawing from his real lived experience of moving to Nashville with wide eyes and big dreams, Derek writes lines of script and music from a place of honesty and realism. Currently residing in the Nashville area, Derek began work on this project in 2018 and is now on a mission to bring his new Christmas story and music to families everywhere. He has chosen Utah as the place to debut this brand new stage production. Derek has been a songwriter in Nashville for over 13 years and he has performed with his two brothers (The Hinckley Brothers) and made a run at Nashville to chase the dream of making it on the big stage. He has written for Nashville song publishers and is currently a signed writer at an L.A based publishing company working with TV and film. Taking this next step to write a musical script and score has been a lifelong dream. Threads of his real life are woven into the fabric of the story as songs, character, and story-telling all intersect…in real-time. After all, you write best about what you know. We look forward to welcoming you to the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center where we will take you to Nashville at Christmas time and answer the question “What Is The Best Thing About Christmas?” Run time: 115 minutes Age policy: Recommended for ages 6 and up.
