This holiday mash-up is back by popular demand and celebrating its 10th anniversary season! Join Maria-Clara and the Nutcracker Prince as they set off for a magical adventure…in modern day New York City. The Hip Hop Nutcracker features Tchaikovsky’s classic score punched up by all-star contemporary and hip-hop dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and Kurtis Blow, one of hip-hop’s founding fathers, who opens the show with a short set. Innovative visual effects transform the landscape of E.T.A. Hoffmann’s beloved story from traditional 19th century Germany to the vibrant, diverse sights and sounds of modern urban life. Through this remixed and reimagined version of the holiday classic, The Hip Hop Nutcracker takes us on a journey that celebrates love and community.

CityDance is proud to present this year's Conservatory holiday showcase and bring the Magic to the CityDance Studio Theater at Strathmore! The young talents of CityDance Conservatory and Young Training Program enchant audiences with their annual winter showcase in an exciting program across multiple genres from Classical Ballet and Modern to Afro-Pop, Sri Lankan and beyond! Professional repertory from national and international summer intensive guest companies and artists: Koresh Dance Company, PHILADANCO!, Alex Neoral/Focus Cia de Danca, Elizabeth Gahl/Compagnie Elizabeth Gahl, and Ignite Artists, Asanga Domask and Robert J. Priore will be highlighted. Creating the Magic features choreography staged and created by Ballet Master Stanislav Issaev, Artistic Director Lorraine Spiegler, CityDance Teaching Artists and Guest Artists Diana Amalfitano, Ryan Bailey, Alicia Canterna, Micah Geyer, Jenna Hide, Adjetey Klufio, Aranza Lara, Tariq Darrell O'Meally, Robert Tyler, Hunter Tayman, Keith Lamelle Thomas. Award-winning solos from Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), New York City Dance Alliance (NYCDA) and NAACP ACT-SO National Competition will also be included. Creating the Magic will also celebrate the Conservatory’s eighteen graduating seniors.

Did you know?! Potomac Fever was formed over thirty years ago! The 14-voice a cappella pop ensemble has performed all over the country and released several albums.
See NSO principal second violinist Marissa Regni and NSO assistant principal timpanist/percussionist Scott Christian in an exciting program exploring the magic created when the violin and percussion join forces. This melodic and rhythmic ride proves that no matter how different the instruments are, they can come together to make some beautiful music.
Dance Loft on 14’s Nutcracker is a cumulation of what the youth students have been working on throughout the fall term. The concert will feature students from Dance Loft on 14 youth classes, as well as DC-based professional dancers. We hope you enjoy the show!
Virginia National Ballet presents “Life in the Fast Lane”: three riveting contemporary ballets to iconic musical selections that will have you on the edge of your seats! First on the program is Ravel’s “Bolero”, followed by “Bohemian Rhapsody”, ending with Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons”, with a twist. VNB’s award winning Artistic Director Rafik Hegab has choreographed all three works, which will be danced with athleticism and aplomb by VNB’s group of international professional dancers. “Bolero” is Ravel’s most famous composition, with a repeated melody that builds with different orchestration at each phrase, ending in a powerful climax. “Bohemian Rhapsody” features many of Queen’s greatest hits and some deep tracks. Prepared to be rocked! And lastly, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons will take you on a journey with its powerful rhythms and famous musical phrases, with some selections rewritten by contemporary composer Max Richter. VNB is the 2022 Winner of The Best of Prince William in 3 categories: Best Performing Arts Company, Best Choreographer, and Best Dance School.
Come celebrate the Holidays with us! Create a new tradition celebrating the holidays the Spanish way. This festive program will take you on a journey of some of the most festive holiday traditions as celebrated in Spain and Puerto Rico. Enjoy an evening of Spanish holiday music and song (villancicos) alongside flamenco dancing, and even a “parranda.” The cast will include Furia Flamenca Dance Company and a rich cast of musicians including, Maestro Torcuato Zamora, Juan L. Romero and Guillermo Juan Christie on flamenco guitar, and Margarita Osorio and Jorge Porta on vocals.
