1) Chris Botti performs at SFJAZZ: January 8-13

Grammy Award Winner Chris Botti is the world’s biggest-selling jazz instrumentalist of our time who plays both pop and jazz. He has played his trumpet with a ton of amazing artists, including Michael Bublé, Buddy Rich, Paul Simon Joni Mitchell, and Sting. A few other names you might know are Yo-Yo Ma, John Mayer, and Steven Tyler along with so many more…

He is considered today’s Miles Davis! He has been to the Bay Area a few times but this month, he’ll be performing a snazzy program at SF Jazz.

Addict Insider: Chris started playing the trumpet at age 12 and was highly influenced by the great Miles Davis. Early in Chris’s career, it was clear that his playing was Special. In fact, one of Chris’s first professional gigs with Frank Sinatra!

2) Duo Ladino at the Painted Ladies: January 18

Have you ever wondered what the inside of one of the iconic Painted Ladies houses looked like? We certainly have. This year this is you chance to do just that while listening to a live and intimate concert performed by pianist Ronny Michael Greenberg and violinist Elizabeth Maria! The concert will feature music by Gershwin, Prokofiev, Debussy, and Bartok + a complimentary tasting of wines by La Mesa Vineyards.

3) Red Curtain Addict Night Out to Cirque du Soleil’s VOLTA: January 19th!

Energetic, urban and contemporary, VOLTA is a captivating voyage of discovery that showcases never-before-seen under the Big Top acrobatics in a visually striking world. 4) Esa-Pekka Salonen Conducts the San Francisco Symphony: January 20th

Last month, the San Francisco Symphony announced that their Music Director Designate Esa-Pekka Salonen! Be the first to experience the much-anticipated creative partnership as he takes the podium to conducted a unique program that speaks to his extraordinary “pictorial impulse” (San Francisco Chronicle). Salonen’s vision for the San Francisco Symphony is awesome – “It’s not only about being the orchestra of the future, it’s about being about the orchestra of the NOW.”

Red Curtain Addict Insider:  Over the course of San Francisco Symphony’s 107 year history, there has only been ELEVEN Music Directors! Esa-Pekka Salonen will be the 12th. (Each one of them must have really liked it here… 😉)

SF Ballet Opening Night Gala: January 23rd

SF Ballet’s annual Opening Night Gala, will take place on Thursday, January 24th and includes cocktails, a lavish dinner, a special performance at the Opera House and the Bay Area’s best After Party in San Francisco’s beautiful City Hall.

This is one of our favorite galas in the Bay Area because it’s not a full production or a one-off performance like the SF Opera or the SF Symphony. Instead, the SF Ballet dancers perform a series of previews from the 2018 season. So you’ll see a scene from a story ballet (like their upcoming performance of Little Mermaid and ) and shorter repertoire like a few of their modern ballets along with classical favorites.

Addict Insider: The After Party celebration is held at the City Hall and is always decorated lavishly! Click the video above to WATCH our favorite moments from last year’s gala to get a sneak peek on what to expect. We can’t wait to see you there!
