Afterwards, Christian Reif will be conducting the San Francisco Symphony in an Oktoberfest-inspired concert featuring festive drinking songs, polkas and waltzes.

We sat down with Christian to learn more about the evening’s music by playing a game. ?

We asked him to pair a song from the upcoming concert with a type of beer or wine to reveal the flavors of the program. Scroll down see which flavor/song will be your favorite!

“Dein ist mein ganzes Herz” from Das Land des Lächelns by Lehár – Light Beer

“Fin ch’han dal vino” from Don Giovanni by Mozart – Champagne

“Ah! Quell dîner!” from La Périchole by Offenbach – Rosé

“Drink, Drink, Drink” from The Student Prince by Romberg – Cheap Beer

There are a few other songs on the program but you’ll have to come see it for yourself and decide on their ideal pairing. Yes! That means you can sip on your beverage of choice while you listen to the San Francisco Symphony play Oktoberfest-inspired music.

Christopher Reif is actually from Germany himself! “In my village (Rosenhein), it was a very common occurrence for groups of people to get together after school or after church to play polka and other German music, especially during Oktoberfest. I would play the clarinet or piano with my friends and it was so much fun to make music as a community! I’m really excited to conduct and share this special tradition with my fellow residents of San Francisco.”

All concert ticket holders will receive a complimentary beer from ABK or Anchor Steam Beer for $29. VIP concert ticket holders will get complete access to the exclusive Biergarten that includes unlimited drinks and bites starting at $129.

The best part is, proceeds from the evening will go to help enrich the San Francisco Symphony’s education programs in the Bay Area.
