Celebrate America's 250th Anniversary Through the Performing Arts This Fourth of July

July 3, 2026

As the United States commemorates its 250th anniversary, communities across the country are reflecting on the people, stories, and traditions that have shaped our nation's history. While fireworks and backyard barbecues are beloved Fourth of July traditions, the performing arts have also long played an important role in telling America's story.

This week, Red Curtain Addict joined KRON4's Live in the Bay to share two unforgettable Bay Area celebrations where music, theater, and community come together for an inspiring Independence Day experience. We also had a little fun with some Fourth of July trivia, exploring how American history has been celebrated through music—from patriotic classics to the songs that have defined generations.

Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular with Santa Rosa Symphony & Transcendence Theatre Company
Saturday, July 4 | Green Music Center, Sonoma

Looking for a family-friendly celebration that combines Broadway, symphonic music, and fireworks? The Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular at Sonoma's Green Music Center offers an entire afternoon and evening of entertainment.

The festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. with a lively Kid Zone featuring carnival games, bounce houses, music, food, and activities for all ages. Then, at 7:30 p.m., the Santa Rosa Symphony joins forces with Transcendence Theatre Company for a performance featuring Broadway favorites alongside patriotic classics, creating a celebration that honors America's musical heritage. The evening concludes with a spectacular fireworks display under the stars.

Whether you're celebrating with family or friends, it's a wonderful way to experience live performance while embracing the spirit of Independence Day.

Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular with San Francisco Symphony
Saturday, July 4 | Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View

For those looking to celebrate with one of the country's premier orchestras, the San Francisco Symphony's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular offers an unforgettable evening at Shoreline Amphitheatre.

Family activities begin at 5:00 p.m., followed by Summer of 1969: The Soundtrack of a Generation at 7:00 p.m. Featuring the San Francisco Symphony and guest vocalists, the concert celebrates one of the most influential eras in American music with iconic songs including Proud Mary, Here Comes the Sun, and Purple Haze. The evening concludes with a grand fireworks finale that lights up the night sky.

It's a celebration that bridges generations while showcasing the music that helped define an era of American culture.

America's Story Through Music

From patriotic marches and Broadway favorites to rock anthems and orchestral masterworks, music has always been woven into the fabric of America's history. Throughout our KRON4 segment, we also shared a few fun pieces of Fourth of July trivia, highlighting how composers, performers, and iconic songs have helped tell our nation's story for generations. Make sure to WATCH to get in on the fun!

From all of us at Red Curtain Addict, we wish you a safe, meaningful, and memorable Fourth of July. As we celebrate our nation's 250th anniversary, we extend our deepest gratitude to the veterans, active-duty service members, and military families whose dedication and sacrifice have helped preserve the freedoms that allow us to gather, create, and celebrate together.

Happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸
