SHN, Hello Dolly - February 19 - March 17
"Just leave everything to meeeeeeee...!!!" Hello Dolly posses some of our favorite music of all time that we honestly never stop singing. Miss Dolly Levi is the the epitome of #bossgirl. She knows what she wants, she's an entrepreneur at heart and she's head over heels for Horace Vandergelder (a fellow business owner). This funny love story will have both you and your date rolling and smiling until the curtain falls.
Dolly will be played by the amazing Tony Award winner Betty Buckley (who was also in the original Broadway production of Cats) and The Washington Post has raved that "It delivers on exactly what's craved by lovers of old-school musicals from the era when giants like Merman roamed the earth. 'Hello, Dolly!' is making people crazy happy".
Cal Performances, Joyce DiDonato in Concert, Feb. 20
Looking for a lavish date night? Head over to Cal Performances to hear Multi Grammy Award winner Joyce DiDonato who has entranced audiences across the globe. If you're not a complete opera buff, not to worry! This concert will not be heavy and complex. Instead, it will be lighthearted with a variety of jazz ballads, songs from the Great American Songbook and romantic Italian Baroque arias. Better yet, tickets start at $50!
A Night of Schumann with the San Francisco Symphony, February 22-24
Known as a romantic hero, Schumann has been regarded as one of the greatest composers that emphasized emotions through his enamoring and lyrical music. Have you heard about his bitter sweet relationship with his wife, Clara? Oh, if you haven't, you have to read this! The man truly had a knack for writing not only beautiful music but passionate love letters (take notes gentlemen!).
The San Francisco Symphony is going to play entire evening of his beautiful pieces, including Overture to Genoveva, Symphony No. 2 and Piano Concerto (featuring Lars Vogt). If you're wanting to do a little something extra, make sure to pre-arrange champagne or wine for intermission - your date will definitely be impressed! SF Ballet, Sensorium: February 26th
And if the list couldn't get any better, we're going to end it with a BOOM!!!! Sensorium is one of our most favorite events of the year at the San Francisco Ballet! Why? Because they transform the entire War Memorial Opera House into a total sensory experience that only happens once a year. Trust us, you and your date will definitely want to make this event.
The night will start with front-of-house arts installations and activities paired with bites and drinks. You'll enter the exquisite theater for an energetic performance by the San Francisco Ballet and then head down to the basement for an afterparty with dancing and more drinks! (You might even spot a few San Francisco Ballet dancers on the dance floor.)
