Mariah Carey Joins Producing Team of ‘Some Like It Hot’ On Broadway

Quoted from a statement from Mariah Carey: “When Neil Meron shared this new take on the beloved film, I knew I had to be a part of it. To see how this show continues to expand on the film’s legacy—pushing boundaries, promoting inclusion, celebrating diversity—I’m proud to help bring Some Like It Hot for today’s world to new audiences.”

Her contributions to the show as a producer will support the overall production and opportunities for it to be seen by more audiences!

Carey has also mentioned how she is a huge Marilyn Monroe fan! Carey says, “She’s been an important touchstone throughout my life, so much so that I acquired her treasured baby grand white piano at an auction." The piano that belonged to Monroe's mother Gladys Pearl Baker, was sold when Gladys Baker was institutionalized. The piano was a very important piece of Monroe’s life, so much so that she spent time searching for it to repurchase it. The piano story inspired Marc Shaiman and fellow Some Like It Hot lyricist Scott Wittman's "Second Hand White Baby Grand," which was written for the fictional musical Bombshell in the hit NBC show Smash

Carey’s new collaboration with the musical reunites her with composer and lyricist Marc Shaiman, whom she worked with on her 2017 hit single “The Star”. As well as working as producer and co-writer of Carey’s 2010 Christmas Album Merry Christmas II You
